What is it? This is a potent fruit brandy alcoholic drink made from fermented grapes and raisins. Although it is commonly associated with the country of Turkey, it is also a national drink of Albania and other parts of the Balkans. It is around 40% alcohol by volume, or 80% proof. There are a few brands of raki in Albania, but it is home brewed in the countryside, much like “white lightening” is in the hills of the south in the United States.  Popular foods to eat with a glass of raki include dates, figs, stuffed grape leaves, and baklava.

Raki plays an important part of “Lawless Order: Jeremy Santos and The Outfit”, a unifying cultural symbol that bonds warriors of the clans as well as lovers Arta and Valon. Find out how this drink affects them all by reading this enthralling novel!
