We have a trivet that has been around for so long, we are not sure where we picked it up. It is titled “Bad Munster am Stein”, with an umlaut over the u. I doubt I picked it up while stationed at Ramstein Air Base forty years ago, although it is possible. I was more in the habit of collecting beer steins at the time. More likely we have acquired it at an estate sale in this area of many military retirees who also spent some time in Germany . Of course, “Munster” in German has no connection to the English “monster” , and “bad” refers to a spa or baths. But it does have a certain spirit of Halloween that we thought everyone could enjoy. By the way, I actually saw a train station in Germany with the town sign “Frankenstein”, but that’s another story…
