There are billions of people on the face of our earth and each one is unique. With so much individualism in our world there is an endless opportunity to hear multiple perspectives and find solutions to common problems.

Additionally, writing is a way of communicating with other people. Sometimes it is easier to have your message heard clearly when it is written down in black and white. There is nothing to judge except for the words that you read. And, with today’s technological advancements your words can be translated into many other languages.

“Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it.” This famous and well known saying should be chiseled into marble or stone. For when a society forgets its roots, it is on the road to obscurity as a footnote to history.

For older people, writing is an opportunity to preserve their story and to ensure that the past is remembered accurately through the lens of someone that actually lived it. With so many lenses there are many angles and every person’s views need to be heard. So it is important to have many stories on the same topic.

Everyone knows the saying “use it or lose it” and this applies to the skills that we sometimes take for granted until we notice that they are diminished from lack of use. One of these skills is the ability to spell, another is the ability to formulate a thought and select expressive words that fit the message we are trying to convey.

So, today we challenge you to pick up a pen or pencil and begin your journey into the world of writing. You never know what will emerge from those hard working brain cells of your mind!
